Here is an inexpensive cello where the neck had been repaired several times and eventually those repairs failed. Let's try to fix is for a final time.

Here are the steps:

1. Remove all of the old pins and screws.
2. Fill their holes with wooden dowles
3. Glue the two pieces together using rubber bands and a flat surface to glue to
4. Make a mold that's strong enough to keep it together while I gouge out the inner part of the neck.
5. Fit a piece of maple with the grain running vertically
6. Glue the piece into the gouged out area.
7. Cut the excess off
8. Plane flat so that it matches the plane of the neck and the fingerboard can be glued back on
9. Pin the ends of the fitted piece (just in case)
10. Glue the fingerboard back on
11. As a percaution, pin the fitted piece to the scroll
12. Reglue the nut
13. Fill the missing wood so the neck is the correct shape.
14. Finish up with a little bit of touchup
